Stiltwalking is a part of many cultures and languages. In Edmonton, the NSC is dedicated to cultivating a community of Stiltwalkers to share the ancient art with.

In 2001, the city of Edmonton, Alberta hosted the International Amateur Athletic Federation (IAAF) World Games. As part of the spectacular opening and closing ceremonies for this major sporting event, Randall Fraser trained, equipped, costumed and choreographed a stilt pageant performed by a team of 50 people of eclectic backgrounds, ages and interests.

After the success of the event, he found he had a team of enthusiastic Stiltwalkers eager to continue developing their skills and performing. Together, they formed the Edmonton Stiltwalkers Society.

In the two decades since, the NSC was formed to cultivate a community of enthusiastic Stitlwalkers. Run by Fraser, the NSC has its own studio space, the Stilthalla, open for performance and Stiltwalker bookings in addition to coordinating Corporate Events and planning the Western Canada Stilt Symposium. Members of the NSC have also performed in Ottawa, the Maritimes, Victoria, Oregon, Washington, DC, and at an international circus festival in Nanjing, China.

For our 10 year anniversary in 2011, we began launching a series of new characters, costumes and acts for a new phase of local and touring performances. In June of 2021, the NSC moved into the new practice space. The address can be found in here. For more details, please navigate our header menu.

We are incredibly grateful to our sponsors, customers and audience.
