The Board Members

Randall

Randall

Randall is the founding Artistic Director of the National Stiltwalkers of Canada, and is celebrating 21 years of promoting preserving and presenting the art of stiltwalking. Randall’s history in theatre and special event creation is long and varied. From his origins as a young actor, Randall has become a Designer, Director, Producer, and Performer for many major festivals and events locally, nationally, and internationally. If it’s fantastic and spectacular, Randall is probably nearby.

Jayne

Jayne

In addition to serving as the president for the NSC board of directors, Jayne is one of the longest performing members with the National Stiltwalkers of Canada (NSC). She has over a decade of experience as a stilt performer with the company, and is excited to share her love of stiltwalking with each new generation of NSC artists and enthusiasts! Jayne holds a double major in biological sciences and psychology, and previously trained and coached with the Atlantic Cirque School of Circus Arts in Halifax, where she studied various aerial art disciplines, trampoline and prop manipulation. These days, she tends to find herself juggling multiple jobs and projects, including assisting with COVID-19 testing procedures in the Provincial Lab at the University Hospital.

Geri

Geri

Geri’s position on the Board of Directors is Member at Large, concentrating on costumes. Her relationship with the stiltwalkers began with the International Amateur Athletic Federation (IAAF) World Athletics Championship in 2001 at Commonwealth Stadium. Her career has spanned several decades during which she has created costumes for entertainers, friends, family, schools, corporations, festivals, museums, theatre and film. She has a long history in the arts, and is pleased to work with the National Stiltwalkers of Canada. She declares, “may the National Stiltwalkers of Canada continue to walk on high for many years to come.”

Valerie

Valerie

Valerie Parr became involved with the National Stiltwalkers of Canada after seeing the stiltwalkers perform at the Kaleido Festival a number of years ago. She wanted to try an activity with her eight year old grandson and soon invited him to give it a try with her. Her grandson was a quick study at the craft. She fell in love with the creativity of stiltwalking, the costumes, gigs and all the folks that came into the stiltwalking scene during her time practicing with her grandson and spending time with the Artistic Director of the N.S.C.; Randall Fraser. From that point on, she was a huge part of the stiltwalking community, and even watched as her grandson Gareth performed as a stiltwalker at the Kaleido parade. From there, she was asked to sit as a board member at the National Stiltwalkers of Canada. She exclaims that “there is never a dull moment with the National Stiltwalkers of Canada.”
